Nothing, not even the cancellation of the National Debate Tournament, could stop Trinity University’s top debate team from reaching new levels of success. In official rankings quantified just before the season’s untimely end, seniors Ansh Khullar ’20 and Ian Dill ’20 placed No. 14 in the nation. Their achievement marks a historic first for the University’s debate program, which has never placed a team in the top 16 before.
Khullar and Dill stand among the nation’s debate giants, holding their own against teams from Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Rutgers, and Wake Forest.
Khullar and Dill aren’t alone in their success, however. According to William Mosley-Jensen, director of Trinity debate, a duo of Trinity first-years also qualified for the National Debate Tournament at No. 78 in the country. Sophomore students Loic Rocheleau and Kenneth Nelson competed in the American Debate Association’s preliminary national championship, placing No. 21 overall.
“The future of Trinity debate is bright,” Jensen says.
