From upscale malls and shopping centers to Mexican markets and antiques, there's something for everyone in San Antonio. Situated in the Hill Country, you have the opportunity to drive out among the rolling hills to experience the Shops at La Cantera, or take a quick drive west down Hildebrand to scavenge for treasures!
Nine major shopping malls—some indoor, some open air—make San Antonio a top shopping destination. Rivercenter Mall, North Star Mall, and the Shops at La Cantera are popular malls for favorite stores and new discoveries.
The Alamo Quarry Market, just minutes up 281 from Trinity's campus, is an open-air shopping center in the former Alamo Cement Plant. The Quarry offers some of the finest shopping and dining options in the area.
Market Square, in the heart of downtown, is an open-air market with traditional Mexican and Latin American wares. Stop in to browse genuine leather and hand-blown glass, or enjoy an auga fresca from the fruit stand or an empanada from Mi Tierra's panaderia.
The treasures you’ll find in area antique stores may have Texas roots, or they could just as easily be from Europe, Asia, Latin America or elsewhere around the globe.
Beyond the malls, you can explore the city's most charming neighborhoods, where locals live, play—and, of course, shop. Many of the areas feature stores selling clothing, jewelry and artwork made locally, making your purchases even more meaningful.
Just head west down Hildebrand, the northern-most border of Trinity's campus, or south down St. Mary's, and your treasures await! You'll just have to dig for them.
