The East Asian Studies faculty advisory committee consists of ten full-time faculty members from seven academic departments, including business administration, education, history, modern languages (Chinese and Japanese), music, political science, and religion. In addition, program faculty teach courses in art history and philosophy.
In conjunction with Trinity's re-envisioning initiative, gifts from distinguished alumni and trustees created two new professorships in honor of and on behalf of faculty members whose vision helped create the EAST Project. The Richard M. Burr and Donald N. Clark Professorship in Business Administration was the gift of an alumna whose career in business and trade with China was shaped at Trinity more than a quarter-century ago. Deli Yang is the first Burr-Clark Professor of Business.
A second major gift from Trustee Oliver Lee in honor of his parents, J.K. and Ingrid Lee, has endowed a senior position in Chinese. Professor Stephen Field, head of the Chinese program and co-director of EAST, is the first J.K. and Ingrid Lee Professor of Chinese. Lee's gift assures the strength of Trinity's Chinese program as one of the best liberal arts college Chinese programs in the United States.
