Admissions Requirements

To be eligible for admission to Trinity's School Psychology Program, students must have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. An undergraduate major of psychology or education is preferred, although the program welcomes applications from candidates with other majors.

Applicants are expected to have the following:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A grade point average of 3.0 for the last 60 semester hours taken (Students with a GPA of 2.6 or higher are eligible for provisional admission).
  • A minimum composite score of 300 (verbal and quantitative sections) on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Candidates who already possess a master's degree are exempt from this requirement.
  • Strong academic and professional references.

Deadline: February 1st

Completed applications are due by February 1st of each year.

An interview with the program director will be scheduled after initial review of application materials. 

Candidates will be notified of their admission status by mid-March.

Application Process

Criteria considered in admission include undergraduate GPA, letters of recommendation, professional disposition, performance on the GRE (if applicable), and a personal interview.

Required online application materials include:

  • Completed Trinity University application for admission to Graduate Study
  • A non-refundable application Fee of $50 paid by debit/credit card or check (electronic checks must be from US bank accounts only) 
  • A brief written statement that includes educational objectives, relevant academic and work experience, and reasons for entering the field of School Psychology
  • Contact information for three references from previous college instructors or supervisors
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended, submitted in sealed envelopes
  • Official score report from the Graduate Record Examination submitted to Trinity University (Institution Code: 6831). Candidates who already possess a master's degree are exempt from this requirement
  • A current résumé
  • Indication of interest in consideration for graduate assistantship
