Solid foundations, "hands-on" learning experiences

The department offers courses in corporate finance, financial institutions, investments, international finance, statistics, operations research, management information systems, business analytics, and other related areas.

The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. This major allows students to gain solid textbook-type foundations and "hands-on" learning experiences in all major areas of finance. The department also offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Analytics. This major provides students with a variety of quantitative, technological, and analytical skills that are necessary to succeed in careers in operations management, analytics, and "big data."

Get Involved

Study Abroad

Students can join Trinity Study Abroad programs in Europe and Asia such as the International Business Summer School in Beijing, case studies in Vietnam and Cuba, and a summer program at Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University.

Students can also get three credit hours for Trinity’s study abroad program in Kobe, Japan, where students learn about contemporary Japanese society, business economy, politics, and cultural traditions.

Experiential Learning

Internships
BAT majors are connected to a powerful pipeline of local, state, and nationwide internship opportunities, with major companies such as Toyota, Amazon, Dell, and Wal-Mart.

Student Managed Fund
Trinity's Student Managed Fund Program is an experiential stock valuation and trading program that allows students an opportunity to manage a portfolio of over $5 million in common stock.
The Student Managed Fund Program (SMF) gives Trinity students the opportunity to manage real money in financial markets, bridging the gap between financial theory and real-world applications. The SMF enriches the education of business students through a "hands-on" approach and with the goal of outperforming the market as measured by the Standard and Poor's 500 Index.

SMF I (FNCE 3363) is a one-semester, senior-level course offered in the fall semester of each academic year with opportunities for students to continue their involvement with SMF in a second course (FNCE 4363) during the following semester. Investment Principles and Analysis (FNCE 3352), Financial Management and Policy (FNCE 3362), and Intermediate Accounting I (ACCT 3341) are all pre-requisites for SMF I. Interested students must complete these three courses during their junior year prior to applying to SMF for their senior year.

Students are selected for the SMF Program through a highly competitive recruiting process. Minimum requirements for selection include a high overall and major-specific GPA, an outstanding application packet (essay, application, resume), and the ability to excel in personal interviews conducted by current SMF students and the SMF Director.

As an AACSB accredited School of Business, Trinity University has an active Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter which is the honor society associated with AACSB International.
