The Bachelor of Music in performance is for students who wish to pursue intensive training on their instrument in pursuit of a career as a professional performer. Trinity offers our undergraduate performance majors with musical opportunities typically only afforded to graduate students at larger schools.
Our performance majors are regularly accepted to the top graduate and young artist programs in the country. This is a result of our students gaining résumé-building musical experiences early on in their training. At Trinity, performance opportunities abound in solo, chamber, and ensemble settings.
Trinity regularly hosts an array of world-class musicians on residency who offer masterclasses specifically focused on our undergraduate students. These includes one-on-one interactions through private lessons, joint performances, and guest lectures. Trinity has brought to campus some of the premiere musical artists of our time.
The culturally-vibrant city of San Antonio is a fitting locale for performance majors looking to become engaged in professional music opportunities. In addition, Trinity alumni have gone on to pursue graduate studies at The Juilliard School, Yale University, Peabody Conservatory, the University of Notre Dame, the Royal University of the Hague, Ithaca College, the University of Kansas, Ohio State University, perform on the world stage, and become university music professors.
Music studies comprise approximately two-thirds of the total curriculum, and include courses in Theory and Comprehensive Musicianship, Music History and Literature, Applied Music, Ensembles, as well as specialized courses in performance studied, literature and pedagogy, and many opportunities to perform in recitals and concerts. These opportunities include such areas as: organ, piano and vocal performance.
