The internship requirement of all urban studies majors is an opportunity for students to participate in the work world while receiving class credit. Internships allow students to gain valuable work experience while experimenting with different possible career choices.

The urban studies program has relationships in both the public and private sectors across San Antonio. Students have interned recently at these local organizations:

  • The City of San Antonio's department of economic development
  • The Green Spaces Alliance
  • Southwest Exteriors (private contractor)
  • Greenspaces Alliances (non-profit)
  • Metro health department (local government)
  • Conway, Arkansas, planning department (local government)
  • Bexar County economic development (local government)
  • The PFM Group (public finance company)
  • Education policy adviser for the Office of Mayor (local government)
  • The San Antonio affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure (non-profit)
  • Project ABC (non-profit)
  • San Antonio AIDS Foundation (non-profit)
  • Westside Development Corporation (non-profit)
