A Trinity Summer

Students practice college-level reading, writing, and speaking in a challenging, college-level environment. Former ATS students have found that the intellectual growth they experienced in the program combined with the added responsibility of living on Trinity’s campus prepared them for the transition from high school to college.

ATS students have the additional advantage of challenging their intellect in one of the nation’s most vibrant cities! Students explore San Antonio’s five eighteenth-century Spanish missions to probe history’s unanswered questions of cultural conquest and assimilation. The missions stand sentinel to the largest questions of human existence: religion and war, art and technology, love and suffering. Students have a truly unique opportunity to see ideas presented in class discussions played out on history’s stage.

The Academic Program

Students work in small groups with distinguished Trinity faculty members and college student mentors. They engage in a variety of classroom exercises designed to develop and hone such essential learning skills as logical reasoning, critical analysis, and persuasive oral and written communication. Students practice these skills extensively, and evaluations are based on college-level expectations. Lively discussions of complex issues offer new perspectives and increase academic stimulation.

Summer in San Antonio can only be described as hot!  Rollercoasters scream to life at SixFlags Fiesta Texas and Sea World of San Antonio. Mariachi bands serenade Riverwalk diners on balmy summer evenings. White tigers nap at the San Antonio Zoo. And scenic, centuries-old missions guard the secrets of Spanish priests, Native Americans, and revolutionary Texans.

Students are offered a varied meal plan, both on campus and off. The cost for all meals is included in the fees for the program.
