Academic Merit Scholarships

Trinity University offers many opportunities for financial aid. As students apply to the University, they are automatically considered for our full range of general merit scholarships.

Trinity Scholarships and Financial Aid for First-Year and Transfer Students 2021-22

Trinity delivers a high-impact, unique educational experience made affordable to students and families at every economic level. Trinity’s $1.4 billion endowment places us among the top 40 institutions nationally for endowment per student. The strong fiscal health of Trinity combined with philanthropic alumni support enables us to offer generous merit scholarships and robust financial aid opportunities.

All qualified entering students are considered for academic merit scholarships, which generally range from $10,000 to full tuition, regardless of the students' financial need. A recalculated core GPA*, standardized test scores (optional) and other criteria are used to determine eligibility. All of Trinity’s merit scholarships and awards are renewable for four years (eight semesters) and require recipients to maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA unless otherwise stated.

* Core GPA is recalculated on an unweighted 4.0 scale using the student's core academic courses (English, math, science, social science and foreign language) completed in high school.

  • Academic merit scholarships are determined based on a combination of the applicant’s recalculated core GPA and SAT or ACT superscore results. For applicants who choose to be considered without test scores, merit scholarships are determined based on the core GPA alongside a holistic review process incorporating other achievements.
  • Students considering applying Early Decision: We understand that scholarships and financial aid often play a significant role in determining affordability prior to identifying Trinity as a top choice. To assist with this, we can provide families with a clear scholarship and/or financial aid estimate prior to submitting an Early Decision application. To learn more, please contact your assigned admissions representative.
