Josh Campbell
Class Year: 2015

Josh Campbell ‘15 has some exciting news: after completing his MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in NYC, he co-founded an art-tech startup that led him to be acquired by another art-tech company called Eazel last summer. He has been working with Eazel as one of its directors ever since, helping scale operations from Asia into the United States of America. Having successfully set up shop in NYC, he is thrilled to share Eazel with us all!

So, what does Eazel do? Eazel is a global online arts-education and accessibility platform. Using new technologies, Eazel digitally maps, archives, and produces fully-immersive virtual tours of art exhibitions, allowing anyone around the world with internet access the ability to experience the program beyond its physical and temporal limits.
The market application for this service is quite obvious ; galleries, art fairs, and auction houses all use us to expand their own marketing initiatives, reaching new clients all over the world. However, what gets Mr. Campbell really excited, and why he accepted being brought on to help shape the business model and company mission, is the education and accessibility potential the platform affords to end users.

Free for everyone to use and compatible across all screen types, Eazel allows anyone with an interest in art to be virtually placed in an exhibition - even after the exhibition has ended! The platform provides users will all of the exhibition's content and ancillary information, including artwork images and details, installation shots, press releases, artist(s) and venue information, and much more.

Mr. Campbell has recently begun partnering Eazel with academic institutions and museums, including the New York Academy of Art, which was founded by Andy Warhol. Coincidentally, the first exhibition they filmed for them was an Andy Warhol drawing show! You can check out the exhibition here.

In addition to filming exhibitions, they also film and virtualize studio facilities and spaces, to be used as recruitment tools for institutions. Hopefully, they will soon be able to expand operations across the US to other major cities - Mr. Campbell would absolutely love to have Trinity's Neidorff Art Gallery, and all of Trinity's studio facilities on the platform one day!
Mr. Campbell closes his exciting news to us with this: “I would not be where I am today if it weren't for all of the dedicated efforts, guidance and encouragement I received from Trinity's faculty to pursue a career in both business and the arts. I do believe I have found a niche area where my passion for the arts and mind for business development can flourish and have a positive impact on society.” What an inspiring success story, Tigers!

Veronica (Richter) McDonald
Class Year: 2012

Veronica Richter McDonald '12, and her husband, Ian McDonald, welcomed their first child, a lovely son, Pierce Patrick on September 25, 2018.

Kristin (Golmon) Raja
Class Year: 2010

In a bold bid to tackle the global dearth of women leaders in STEMM, LT Kristin Raja, a NOAA Corps Officer and 2010 graduate of Trinity’s Engineering program, is taking her commitment to leadership to the end of the earth after being chosen as a Homeward Bound participant. Homeward Bound is a global 12-month leadership initiative for women with a background in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine). It aims to equip a 1000-strong collaboration of women who are in leadership roles or aspire to leadership, to increase the visibility of women in both academia and industry.

This 12-month program includes online learning to increase leadership capacity, strategic capability and collaboration, and culminates in a meeting of all 100 participants in Ushuaia, Argentina before embarking on a life-changing expedition to one of the most ecologically sensitive and inspiring areas on Earth, Antarctica, at the end of 2019.

The Homeward Bound selectors noted that Kristin’s expertise in the area of Science Operations and her potential to lead and enact change made her a natural choice for the highly sought-after leadership program. “This network of like-minded women in STEMM fields takes the idea of strategic collaboration to the next level, and could enhance scientific partnerships across the globe. Women bring a different perspective, and this increased diversity in leadership benefits everyone. I hope to use this opportunity to step back from my mission-oriented career and consider how I can lift up other women and collaborate to make changes together” LT Raja explains.

Research repeatedly shows that while women demonstrate great integrity and a legacy mindset when it comes to leadership, decision-making and the creation of collaborative and effective teams, they are overwhelminglyunder-represented in the traditionally male-dominated professions.

Founded in 2016, the program was literally a dream of Australian leadership expert Fabian Dattner, who believed the world needed a program to unlock the leadership potential of outstanding women in STEMM, to upskill and support them to lead, influence and contribute to decision-making about the future of our planet.

‘The aim of Homeward Bound has always been to identify and foster outstanding leadership potential in STEMM and Kristin is exactly the kind of person I had in mind when I dreamt of this program,’ Fabian said.‘It is no accident that we end up in Antarctica, as it is part of the vision. It is where we can see the impact of our inaction first-hand. It is sensitive and challenging, awe inspiring and motivating, and I can think of no more fitting experience for a group of leaders.’

Homeward Bound welcomes 100 participants into its fourth program, encompassing 33 nationalities and its most diverse representation of STEMM fields to date. Homeward Bound is now over a third of its way towards achieving its vision of creating a global collaboration of 1000 women leaders with STEMM backgrounds.

To follow Kristin’s leadership journey, please visit her blog. Would you like to help Kristin reach her fundraising goal? There’s a link on her blog to help support her. Any extra funds raised will be donated to other women in this program. If you would like to learn more about the ground-breaking leadership initiative, or to apply yourself – please visit the application page.
