U.S. News & World Report’s college guide also gives Trinity top rankings in value and in undergraduate teaching
by Susie P. Gonzalez
For the 24th consecutive year, the U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” guide has awarded Trinity University a No.1 ranking in the category of institutions that offer a full range of undergraduate programs as well as select master’s programs in the Western part of the United States.
Trinity also received a No. 1 ranking in the 2016 publication’s best value category, “Great Schools, Great Prices” and for having “A Strong Commitment to Undergraduate Teaching.” According to the college guide, value was based on a school’s overall score in the 2015 rankings and by the net cost of a student receiving the average need-based scholarship or grant.
Trinity is included in a category of regional universities that provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs while offering few, if any, doctoral programs. A total of 618 universities are ranked nationally against their peer groups in four geographic sectors – the North, South, Midwest, and West. Trinity is rated as the top college out of 87 similar institutions in the West.
"We are proud to be recognized another year as No. 1 in the West. It’s in Trinity’s DNA to reinvent itself to be relevant as the educational landscape changes, and we are striving today to be the role model for a 21st century education," said Trinity President Danny Anderson.
Trinity advanced from No. 2 to No. 1 in the analysis of strong undergraduate teaching programs. In addition, U.S. News & World Report ranked the University’s engineering science program at No. 33 among the nation’s best schools where the highest degree offered is a bachelor’s or master’s.
U.S. News & World Report’s annual edition of “America’s Best Colleges” is one of several publications and guidebooks that have recently recognized Trinity as a premier institution. Trinity was also ranked eighth on Forbes' list of America's most entrepreneurial colleges, and the University was included in the 2016 edition of The Best 380 Colleges, an annual guide published by The Princeton Review, which highlights only 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges.
Trinity University, one of the nation's top private undergraduate institutions, is known for its superior academic quality, personalized attention with outstanding faculty, exceptional resources, real-world preparation, and vibrant campus life.
