Changes to Spring 2020 Commencement Ceremonies Announced
Trinity University will celebrate the Class of 2020 with two events

While Trinity University has made the difficult decision to postpone in-person commencement ceremonies for Spring 2020, we would like to share the new ways we will be celebrating our graduating classes: Trinity will hold traditional commencement ceremonies on Saturday, August 8. And while we may not be together in person on the original commencement weekend, we will virtually confer degrees on Saturday, May 16

Celebrating Commencement TUgether in August

Mark your calendars for the weekend of Saturday, August 8! The Spring 2020 undergraduate and graduate classes are welcome back to campus to celebrate commencement exercises in person with friends, family, and loved ones.

On August 8, the University will host traditional commencement ceremonies, giving the Class of 2020 a chance to walk the stage with fellow Tigers. Receptions for these ceremonies will be scheduled on this weekend as well. As more details are released, they will be posted to the University’s commencement website.

We will also spend time together that weekend celebrating time-honored, treasured Trinity traditions, including the senior tower climb, the honor awards ceremony, baccalaureate vespers, and special commencements.

Social public health conditions may force the University to reevaluate these plans, and Trinity is committed to communicating updates or changes as soon as feasibly possible.

Spring 2020 Virtual Conferral of Degrees

While the coronavirus outbreak prohibits us from celebrating in person on May 16, the University will honor the rightful culmination of our graduates’ Trinity journeys. Trinity will virtually confer degrees and celebrate this incredible accomplishment in a meaningful and memorable way.

Look for more details on the May 16 virtual conferral of degrees later this semester on the University’s commencement website.

The University’s Commencement Committee worked diligently to ensure a special senior year experience for our graduates. This committee of faculty, staff, and students listened with open minds and hearts to the concerns of our graduating class, and they are bringing creativity, compassion and innovative thinking to these plans.

Right now, the world needs Trinity Tigers. If 150 years of our history have proven anything, it’s that Trinity graduates leave campus prepared to lead. With intelligence, they answer questions and question answers. With creativity, they institute positive change. And with empathy, they serve a world in need.

As we prepare to send our Tigers into this world, we do so knowing they will encounter economic and social challenges unlike our modern world has ever seen. But we also do so knowing they will graduate into a community of unwavering support—and our Tiger alumni, parents, faculty, and staff all stand at the ready to serve. We have come together as One Trinity, and we will face this world together as One Trinity.
