Reid Bacon ’15 earned a degree in computer science at Trinity and currently is a software developer based in Plano, Texas, not far from his real passion as a professional Ultimate Frisbee player with the Dallas Roughnecks. He also loved a music class while on campus and is a huge fan of the Denver Broncos. To find out more, read on.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Trinity?
My favorite memory at Trinity is probably winning my first ultimate frisbee tournament with the Trinity club team, Turbulence. We traveled up to Waco and beat a University of Texas team in the finals. It was a culmination of a season of hard work, and ended up with us being ranked as the #10 D3 team in the nation.
Is there something you regret not pursuing while at Trinity?
I would have liked to pursue a minor in either religion or music, but I loved the classes I did take and the experiences I had.
What was your favorite teacher or class at Trinity?
My favorite class was “Introduction to Music History” with Carl Leafstedt. He was so incredibly passionate and opened my eyes to some amazing music. I learned a lot in every class, but IMH was definitely one of my favorite non-major classes!

What advice would you give to a Trinity student?
Play ultimate frisbee! Or any of our great club sports, honestly. They allow you to be much more variable with your commitment level, and you can really get as much out of it as you want, depending on what you put in. I fell in love with Ultimate at Trinity and now I get to travel all over North America and play.
How did you get involved in your area of career expertise?
I took some computer science classes in high school and it just clicked for me. The ability to be creative and find different solutions to big problems is a lot of fun.
Favorite color and why.
Navy blue and orange. GO BRONCOS.
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
I'd like to teach at some point in my life. Or run a coffee shop or a bar. Something where I can talk to people all day.
What sound do you love? The sound you hate?
I love the sound of rain, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of crying babies on transcontinental flights.
If you were reincarnated as some other plant or animal, what would it be and why?
Probably a cat. I have a very similar personality to my cat, Peyton Meowning, and she seems to have life pretty well figured out.
Where would you like to retire?
I'd love to live in a mountain town in Colorado with a dog and a cat, and work at an ice cream shop. But when the snow comes, I'm bailing to my bungalow in Hawaii.
