Guadalupe  (Lupe) Hernandez, former assistant director of financial aid, died Jan. 31, 2018. She was 81.

Lupe retired from Trinity in 2002 after 25 years of dedicated service to the financial aid office. She began her employment with Trinity in 1977 as a financial aid counselor and was promoted to assistant director in 2001.

Born and raised in San Antonio, she graduated from Lanier High School. Devoted to her family, Lupe raised her children before beginning her career. She ultimately went back to school and earned a bachelor’s in business administration from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University).  Her family said she ‘loved God, her family, traveling, and bingo.”

Lupe is survived by her children Phillip, William, and Lisa and their spouses, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and family friends.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18 in the Chapel at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough, San Antonio, Texas 78212. A mass of the resurrection will be held at 8:30 a.m., Feb. 19 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Road, San Antonio, Texas 78228.
