Eleven students at Trinity University have become the latest McNair Scholars as part of a prestigious program that prepares participants for doctoral studies through research and related scholarly activities.
Named after the late physicist and Challenger shuttle astronaut Dr. Ronald E. McNair and funded by Trinity and a U.S. Department of Education grant, the McNair Scholars Program offers academic counseling, financial aid advising, mentoring, research opportunities, seminars, paid summer internships, and graduate admissions guidance.
“We are fortunate that Trinity recruits so many great students because this allows us to build a strong McNair Program,” said Kelly Lyons, associate professor of biology and the new McNair Scholars Program director. “These new students will embark on a three-year journey with the goal of attending graduate school. Best of luck to the new Scholars in all their endeavors this year!”
