H-E-B, Trinity’s School of Business present landmark event for emerging women leaders, entrepreneurs

SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University Women’s Leadership Summit will offer young women an opportunity to connect with area business and civic leaders in a day of learning, inspiration, and networking. Presented by H-E-B in association with Trinity’s School of Business, The Women’s Leadership Summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 30, in Trinity’s Stieren Theater.

Featured speaker at the Summit will be Harvard Business School professor and bestselling author, Amy Cuddy. Cuddy, a social psychologist, will discuss her research that shows how body language affects how others see us, how we see ourselves. Her presentation is titled: “Power Poses: Using Body Language to Achieve Power and Influence.” Cuddy has the second-most-popular TED Talk of all time, and her book, “Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges,” is on The New York Times bestseller list. A copy of her book will be provided to the first 500 registrants.

“Our intention is to establish the Trinity University’s Women’s Leadership Summit as an important annual event that inspires and empowers young women while connecting them with business and civic leaders in our community,” said Paige Fields, dean of Trinity’s School of Business. Fields said the Summit is the brainchild of Trish DeBerry, Trinity alumna and member of the School of Business Advisory Council.

President of DeBerry Group, an integrated marketing firm, DeBerry said the program will foster female leadership and entrepreneurship. “This Summit will be very interactive and provide young women with powerful tools, such as the benefits of mentoring and how to make connections through networking that can help them be successful professionally and personally.”

The Summit will feature additional speakers and a panel of business and civic leaders, including:

  • Shelly Power – “The Power of Mentorship”
  • Jackie Dryden – “How to Love Mondays Forever: Embracing Your Purpose”
  • Ellyn Wulfe – “How to Instantly Convey Confidence, Competence & Credibility”
  • Leisa Holland Nelson & Karen Love -- “The Friendship Factor: The Future of Networking”
  • Alison Levine – “How to Achieve Success through High Impact Leadership”

The Trinity University Women’s Leadership Summit will integrate high school and college students with area business and civic leaders. The event is open to the public, but tickets are required and can be purchased by registering online. Lunch is included with the Summit.
