University included in 2017 book as one of the nation’s best undergraduate schools, ranked No. 2 for Best Science Labs

Trinity University has been named to the 2017 edition of The Best 381 Colleges as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review.

Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges are profiled in the book, which is one of The Princeton Review’s most popular guides. In addition to being included in the book, Trinity was ranked second among its peers for having “Best Science Lab Facilities” and was included but not ranked as a regional gem in the “Best Western” category.

A survey of students showed:

  • Students are happy
  • Classroom facilities are great
  • Internships are widely available
  • School is well run
  • Great financial aid
  • Students love San Antonio
  • Dorms are like palaces

In its profile on Trinity, the Princeton Review says the school “encourages students to take a wide range of classes and pursue a wide variety of interests, and a fair number of students choose to study abroad their junior year.” In addition, the guidebook notes that Trinity “focuses on building a community based on the individual” and “fosters a space for the easy transfer of knowledge between faculty and students as well as the creation of new knowledge in research.”

Rob Franek, Princeton Review's senior vice president, publisher and lead author of the guide, said, “Trinity’s outstanding academics are the chief reason we chose it for this book and we strongly recommend it to applicants.”

The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book, overall, 1-to-381, and instead relies upon surveys of 143,000 students. Trinity traditionally has been included in Princeton’s Colleges that Pay You Back. The Princeton Review is a leading tutoring, test prep, and college admissions services company based in Natick, Mass. It is not affiliated with Princeton University.
