The German Studies discovery offers students an opportunity to attain increased fluency in German language and cultural knowledge as well as the option of taking at least one of our many campus-wide German Studies courses taught in English that include art history, film, history, philosophy, and political science. Beginning with GERM 2302 or 3301 (based on existing skills), students with minimal fluency who pursue the German Studies Discovery will continue towards higher language, cultural, and writing skills while also experiencing some of the wide array of fields that connect to German-language thought and cultures.

Requirements

This Discovery requires some familiarity with the German language.
a) Completion of at least 6 credit hours by taking either GERM 2302 & 3301 or 3301 & 3302 depending on placement level in German.
b) Completion of at least 3 credits in any other GERM 3xxx or 4xxx or GRST course.

Additional Information

  • A student must complete at least one  Discovery to qualify for graduation

  • Courses in the Discovery must be taken at Trinity University.
  • Students can also fulfill the Discovery requirement by completing a second major or a minor.
