Trinity University's English program seeks to refine students' abilities in prose argument, critical and interpretive thinking, and oral communication. Diverse course offerings include topics in British and American literatures, theory, post-colonial literatures, gender studies, Jewish literature, African-American literature, creative writing, and rhetoric, providing students a well-rounded experience.
Distinguished by the quality of its faculty, the strength of its curriculum, and the excellence of its graduates, the English department offers a major and minor in English and supports interdisciplinary minors in comparative literature, creative writing, film studies, linguistics, medieval and Renaissance studies, and women and gender studies.
In addition to the academic experience, we offer several opportunities that enrich the student experience, including study abroad programs, work experience in the Writing Center, and hands-on editing and publishing experience with the Trinity Review, Trinity's literary magazine, and the Expositor, a cross-disciplinary journal devoted to publishing the best in undergraduate expository prose.
