Effective and creative expression of ideas is central to both a liberal arts education and to effective citizenship in a democracy. Studying human communication and theatre—among the oldest disciplines of study in Western civilization—gives students an opportunity to understand, assess, and perform the essential activity of self expression.
The department of human communication and theatre at Trinity University is a single administrative unit with two complementary, but relatively independent, academic programs, each with its own major and minor. Students following each track learn theory through a well-balanced curriculum and have chances to apply what they learn through participation in theatre performances, forensics competitions, and academic conferences.
