Trinity’s psychology curriculum reflects both the diversity of its sub-disciplines and the universality of their reliance on methodological sophistication. Courses in statistics, methods, and supervised research train students to think critically about psychological phenomena and make them aware of the intellectual values of the discipline.
The faculty has a wide range of interests, and the department participates in multiple interdisciplinary programs—neuroscience and linguistics—guaranteeing that students hear diverse perspectives. Alongside faculty, students can participate in ongoing research projects and presentations as part of their experience at Trinity.
Psychology majors may also participate in off-site service learning through the department's practicum course, which provides students the opportunity to obtain clinical or off-campus research experience. Recent placements include the Rape Crisis Center, the United Way Helpline, and a variety of research positions at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
