Majors provide in-depth study in a specialized field. Students may elect multiple disciplinary majors or construct a second, interdisciplinary major in consultation with their advisers.

Official admission to a major program occurs during the sophomore year, although the student may begin taking courses in the major department before official admission to the major. A student may apply to major in two or more departments or programs.
